These days, I rarely go out on my photo walks with a dSLR in tow, and today was another of those days. However, I decided to take my Rolleicord twin lens reflex film camera along with me, something I haven't done in a very long time, for no reason in particular that I can recall.
I mention these rather sundry facts as it somewhat pertains to this photograph and, I suppose, most photographs I take with my mobile phone's camera. Because the device yields but an 8 megapixel image AND the lens's focal length is roughly the equivalent of a 28mm lens for a full-scale dSLR. Which means that I try ever so much to fill my frame with the image I see in my head whenever possible.
I saw this within a few minutes of leaving home, but what most struck me was the light making its way to the buildings through the trees and fire escapes. Unfortunately, the lens wasn't wide enough to record the light/shadow play while standing between the car and the buildings, so I decided to include the car and part of the trees, because I refused to not get an adequate photo of this quotidian but less than mundane scene. I wish the car were a vintage vehicle, but beggars can't be choosers, I suppose.
