Who's a pretty bird?

So, I’m back from Costa Rica, and I’ve just started going through my images. This was taken on the beach at the first place we stayed at, an eco-lodge hidden in the jungles of the Osa peninsula.

Scarlet Macaws mate for life. If you spot one, chances are that there’s another hiding a few branches further in. And sometimes there’s even more…

While I was trying to take pictures of this one I suddenly heard screeching and a rustling of many pairs of wings. I looked up and out of the tree in front of me came no fewer than eight of them, taking off across the beach. All around me the air was full of primary colors! I had no idea they had been there the whole time!
