My new spirit animal

Sloth's are my new spirit animal. We saw this guy in Cahuita, at a rescue center and botanical garden.

Tree of Life Rescue Center is an amazing place that do important work, providing a safe haven to animals that have lost their habitat, fallen victims to accidents, pet trade or hunting. They rehabilitate the animals and then – unlike some places that claim to be sanctuaries but in reality are nothing more than animal prisons, meant to entertain tourists – release them back into the wild.

Our guide Patricia, who runs the center together with her husband, was a veritable fountain of knowledge and very passionate about her work. She really drove the point home, these are wild animals, not pets. They might be cute, but they're not domesticated and for both their sake and ours, they should be treated with respect.

Any Rescue Center or Sanctuary that lets you pet their patients are pretty shady and should be avoided
