At the Reformation there were some 46.000 medieval church- buildings in addition to thousands of monastic churches, cathedrals, chapels and chantries.About half still stand more or less as they were first build. On my picture grave stone from a church in Langley Burrell on A 350 towards Chippenham, there is no any sources about who - likely saxons days
