Springbeat festival 2017

Graffiti festival in Snösätra, an old rundown industrial area that's been transformed into a sort of open air art gallery and safe haven for street art and graffiti. Every year they invite artists from all over and the walls get repainted with a new piece.

Historically, Stockholm has been a pretty shitty town when it comes to graffiti. The politicians have considered the entire art form vandalism, going so far as to try to stop even legal paintings and festivals, cracking down hard on everyone and everything that even smells like spray paint. I'm happy to see that this is slowly changing. I think that private initiatives like Snösätra, run by artists and the people who own the buildings in the area, have played a great part .
