Alternate Fit

Army fatigues are unisex, up until a few years ago I believe. They released "Army Combat Uniform - Alternate" a few years ago which was tailored more towards the female anatomy. A part of that design was an elastic waist band.

At Basic Training, I complained my trousers were too big for me so they gave me a pair with an elastic waist band. I later found out that they were "female trousers".

Basically, it was a joke/prank played on me to issue me "female trousers". All of my issued trousers are like this. And you know what? They fit fabulous.
