The Big and The Little

My mum visited me at university and I thought I would show her the nice part of the city, down by the marina. I saw these two boats and just had to get a shot.

I liked how they seem to reflect each other, the big looking back on what it used to be, and the small looking up to what it could be. Which was kind of fitting, as my mum was visiting me.

I am not usually into the whole 'what does the picture mean?' and 'how does the picture make you feel?' interpretation, but in this instance, it works really quite well.

I also like how the parasols all line up, leading your eye along the picture, and the large stone building in the middle adding more depth to the picture, once the red of the boats have dragged you in.

Just goes to show, a) you can take great shots with your phone, and b) you don't need a bright, sunny day to make a picture.
