Project 365, Roll 02, Frame 09, Day 043
One of the last tombstones with some legible inscriptions. Our region was heavily impacted by the coal mining in the 20th century. Some cities perished, quite a lot of historical monuments were lost. This cemetery belonged to the local evangelic parish. Once the whole city quarter was demolished, it remained nearly untouched. But slowly decayed. The graveyard chapel fell apart, some of the graves and tombstones were removed / maybe relocated, some were damaged by vandals, some are still visited and cared for by the families.
