Struck by lightning?

On my route I saw this tree with a huge crack in the tree trunk. Could this be because it was hit by lightning? I don't know but I couldn't resist taking this photograph.

Satoshi T I think it struck by lightning. Things will be the target of thunder even though it is little because there is a wide horizon in Netherlands!
