Today, the national celebrations have started to mark our Queen's official 90th birthday, which is tomorrow.
This massive pink granite horse trough was erected by the villagers of Newburgh in 1897 to mark another royal event, Queen Victoria's 60th year on the throne.
I doubt that the trough was ever intended to be used to water horses, or humans, since it has no opening for the necessary plumbing and the basin is only 4 inches deep.
The village gardening group now use the trough as a large plant container and installed this year's flowers a couple of days ago.
The other odd shaped stone was once used to protect the corner of a building from damage by passing horse-carts.
