You know that feeling when you get to drive a supercar for few days and then you have to go back to your old car? There’s nothing wrong with your car. It works, it drives fine, it doesn’t break, it even looks nice. But you’ll always remember that feeling of driving a supercar.
I have that feeling now, after playing with OM-D E-M1 Mark II for few hours. Now my beloved E-M5 feels „meh”. I spent some time on the plane, writing a blog post about my first impressions (expect it later this week with more photos), but for now I can just tell one thing…
Damn, Olympus! I want the new E-M1!
So here’s one of nearly a 1000 photos I took during the event. It’s a straight out of the camera JPG file. Why JPG? Because at the moment no currently available major software (LR for example) recognizes the new E-M1 RAW files yet. I have those, but I need to wait another week or two to be able to develop those RAWs.
So here’s the image I took while testing continuous focus while shooting 15 full resolution frames per second. I took around 40 of these pics, and around 25 are in perfect focus on the bird. Keeping focus on a bird with this kind of background is impressive, to say the least. It was taken with the M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO, which might have helped a lot.
I made the photo available for free so you can see the details in full resolution. The only „retouching” I did was removing the falcon trainer from the background. But here’s the original never opened in Photoshop.

365 Shades of Calvados Wow! And he's looking straight into the camera! Marvelous pic and sooo sharp!
I wonder how the comparison would be between the old and the new E-M1.
