bvphotosnap Thanks very much! @agnieszka_wyslowska!
Margie I actually get it! Brilliant idea. I love the curve of the bottle and the lid and their reflections. Super duper!
bvphotosnap ☺ Thank you very much Margie! So to explain: my problems were the same as yesterday. I was trying to get the whites white without blowing out the highlights or blowing out the print in the background. I used smoke paint brushes in Photoshop and then used a gradient to colour them. I printed it off on just regular printer paper and taped to the wall. Then I tried to line up the nozzle of the bottle with the smoke. I used a small aperture f/11 and focused on the nozzle to try to get both in focus. At one point I did use my speedlight and bounced it off the white ceiling but didn't achieve the results I was looking for so I aimed at the subjects and it only made them too bright. Yesterdays attempt was totally undesirable. So this is the result I ended up with and I'm partially happy with it, creatively yes, technically no. :D
Margie So interesting to learn about your creativity at work. I had no idea the smoke wasn't "real". You are certainly skilled in Photoshop. I have Lightroom and even then don't know all the features. I also struggle with the whites white/ blowout issues- even in my last two photos.
