Overcoming Fear

My design team went on team building excursion, where I think all of us had to overcome some fear within us. It was more trying and emotional than I think any of us imagined. But because of that, it brought us closer together. We are closer friends and colleagues because of it.

On this particular climb, Des went higher than she had gone the entire day. And just a bit above this, she asked to come down. When she made it down, she bent over and cried. I was right there with her, rubbing her back. I wanted to take her into my arms and just hug her. Soothe the pain. But sometimes that process of crying it out is the way of letting go of that fear. She really was more brave than any of us that day. She never made it to the top of a climb, but she conquered more than we did.
