Eben-Emael is still on my TO-DO list :-) (and lucky not so far from home...)
When you like old sites and industrial buildings... you should visit Genk - Beringen - Eisden - Zolder... there are much old coal mines and coal dump hills to visit, with a spectacular view...
If you like to bicycle and take pictures... you can perfectly combine!!!
It's about 30km from Maastricht....google.be/maps/place/3600+Genk...

Romain Valkenburg is also great.... I was there a few weeks ago, during Xmas season...
