Umbrella Tree

I met up with a friend today, and on my way, I passed this tree, which I have walked by many times but not really looked at. I'd not noticed before that it was trimmed to the shape of an umbrella, but I was surprised to see, upon further inspection, that the underside of the umbrella-like canopy is also trimmed so as to appear hollowed out, again, much like an umbrella.
