I used to have a relatively sizeable record collection. Most of them were purchased in the 1970s and 1980s, but once I got married and had children, my priorities shifted and I bought fewer records. Then, of course, came the compact disc, and my career as a booking agent, and I began to buy music in that new format.
In the last ten years or so, however, I haven't listened to music as I once did, and despite my very emotional connection to the LPs themselves, I began to sell them off. I recognized them as mere "things" that took up space. Also, they're very heavy. After my move to San Francisco, I decided that I don't want to move (if ever I move again) records again. This also goes with my CDS. A couple of thousand!
But a friend of mine regularly posts photos of new LPs he purchases in dollar bins. He is a lover of old movies and, now, vinyl records, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. In a way, it has triggered a bit of a nostalgic sense in me, in which I wish I'd never sold any of mine, but then I come back to reality and recognize that I just don't listen to music in the same way that I once did.

KimJaye That Yes album is one of my faves and I still have the vinyl!
