Day 146: Chapters
Despite leveraging ebooks and audiobooks extensively, physical books have a special place in my heart. So it's no wonder that I absolutely love spending time at Chapters.
I have three qualms with them, however:
-
They more or less have a monopoly in Canada.
-
Their technology section is usually tiny compared to most other categories.
-
Their online prices are cheaper than those in store.
The first two are unfortunate, but I can only really fault them for the last point. It's a policy that doesn't make any sense.
It doesn't invite me to come to the store. And if I happen to be there, I'll usually resist the urge to buy the book right away because I can find it cheaper online from their own store.
What usually happens is that once home, I'll either forget about the book or simply order it on Amazon, who'll generally have a better price and will ship it to me in two days.
Chapters' only advantage over Amazon is their physical presence in Canada and they fail spectacularly to leverage it with this policy of theirs.
Nevertheless, I mostly love them. End of rant. :)
