Today was my fourth and final day of sitting in a courtroom for jury selection at the County Courthouse, an interminable ordeal that finally came to an end when I was "excused" by the defense. No offense taken -- I'm relieved that I can go about my business now. Before I left the courthouse, though, I took some photos of a pair of fantastic marble mosaic murals, this one entitled, "Settling of California." It was completed in 1938, designed by Marian Simpson and sculpted by Gaetano Duccini with Federal WPA (Works Progress Administration) funding. They just... don't make 'em like this anymore.
