My daughter who always knows what's going on, told me in the morning that we would have a harvest moon tonight. I work at about 520 ft above sea level, and live about 300 ft lower. I wanted to stay at work late could so that I could shoot the harvest moon rise over the mountains and the city below, but ended up coming home and looking for the moon peeking in the dark from behind the homes and the trees. I got some decent sharp shots at 1/250s, f/8, ISO 200 with a 210mm lens on a APS-C 1.5 crop factor sensor. You can see many features, including the ones I was not aware of, like the "South" pole, from which meridian-like lines seem to radiate, basketball style. But the shot of the moon in a black sky is not very interesting unless it is super detailed, and I did not have that. I shot the moon through the trees several times and could get either the moon or the leaves in focus. At f/22 on manual focus I finally got both the moon and tree in focus, but didn't like it enough to post. This one looks like fun to me.
