Since I got into photography, I watch the sunlight more carefully. I didn't only become aware how it changes during the day, now I also see how it's moving south as we're getting closer to the astronomical winter.
That's why I found the solar clock fascinating! It's so accurate: the photo was taken at 16:18 and if you look at the scale, the mark is right there. The part that drops the shadow also shows the month - you have to check where it crosses the line.
The numbers above the scale correspond to the official daylight saving and winter time. The Roman numerals below are for solar time. Spain is in the same timezone as Poland, even though we're more or less 20 degrees of longitude away, hence another hour of difference.
There are some more interesting instruments in the astronomical garden. Even after three months of exploring, Valencia doesn't stop to surprise me. Perhaps I should set up a new gallery and make a little tour guide here?
