Happy but uncomfortable

I'm moving to a different floor of the office at work to sit with people I work with more often and I'm very excited. They're really fun and good friends and I love them. One of the sillier things they do is have these little plastic nerf guns with foam things you hit each other with. It's all fun, but...

With so many shootings in the United States and so many happening at schools and my background and future add a teacher, even this is an extremely mixed emotion for me. I had a lot of fun playing with my little nerf gun. But I also feel weird posting anything about it. I have so much sadness about where our educational and mental health systems are that I'm extremely conflicted to even be holding this harmless plastic toy.
