1. They are FAST ... reaching up to 65 kph - and can outrun lions.
2. Their stripes are thought to dissipate over 70 percent of incoming heat.
3. Their stripes are like fingerprints, no two are the same. The young can identify their mothers by their stripes, and other characteristics.
4. Research suggests their stripes confuse the visual systems of flies.
5. They migrate annually over 1,800 miles between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara in constant search of water and food.
