I've been making a conscious effort to get out more. A couple of years back I would wonder the property after work, interacting with guests, troubleshooting trouble, generally enjoying life.
The last two years has seen me take on a role that, while I was eager to try, has sucked all the joy I had here. It got to the point I was considering leaving...
Fortunately, things have rounded a corner and new better things await (less booking keeping... more interacting with our guests).
With this positive change happening (just don't ask me when) I've rediscovered the joys of walking the site with my camera. I've also reaffirmed one of my biggest pet peeves...
It drives me crazy when people say "take a picture of this". More often than not, it's a lackluster / mediocre / boring shot. And, because I am generally a nice guy (just don't let my staff know) I'll humor them and take the picture.
One of my colleagues saw this today. He was impressed with all the spider webs and was very happy to have discovered this space. And I realized... sometimes "take a picture of this" is really just code for "hey, we should enjoy this moment".
