Eugene Alexeev @Satoshi, you are right! I think it is due to the fact that the reflection of the glass falls largely on the portion of glass that is not lit directly by the speed light. In this area the reflection is the major light source and creates more contrast and a more clear image. The blue speckled area immediately below the real glass is heavily lit. It reveals its texture but conceals the reflection. Yet even in the sharp area of reflection the liquid has lost its color and appears to be simply dark. It is curious. Thank you for sharing your observation, it had escaped my eye until now.
