Need an extension tube

I have two M42 lens: one from my friend (he bought it on the Internet) and the one that is attached to old Zenith (my father's camera). Here you can see the second one with M42-M4/3 adapter. The problem is that I cannot get any focus with any of these two lens, when I put them on my Panasonic. When I take them off and pull it out from the camera I can find some focus... But who is going to take photos in this way.... So it seems like I need to put my hands on my extension tubes that I left in Pittsburgh :(.
