First (but not really) of the Year

This is the second Hairy Woodpecker of the season. The first was yesterday, but wouldn't you know it... no card in the camera.

I've always had some degree of difficulty with my Hairy vs. Downy identifications. Colouration and shapes are fairly similar, but it's the size that always throws me for a loop. Hoping that I can keep this guy around for the rest of the season.

Lastly: I’m hoping to have my new and improved feeder station up by the weekend. With any luck this’ll mean no more issues with my squirrel guard breaking in the wind (lost three this year already… ☹ )
