Even though in possession of three decent lights that I am getting progressively proficient with, I wanted to see what the window alone will do for a portrait on a December afternoon. Answer: not all that much. While many portraits taken with an LCD panel light are ready to go pretty much straight out of the camera (in fact, they often require so little work, I throw a crazy filter on just to say I did something), this one took a lot of tweaking.
Settled on Modern 04 profile, but warmed up. Using "FUJI - Provia" preset was making everything too green, it worked with some other portraits, but not this one. EV +1.25, highlights -45, blacks +20, etc., etc.
I think light from window would work better if I could photograph someone looking into said window, maybe incorporating the window into the shot. None of that was easily doable with a tripod, but I guess I will try again. Not sure that profile is my good side.
