This hooded crow fledgling was lucky. We found it on Monday evening, sitting under one of the trees in the park nearby. Still too young to fly. Surprisingly, there were no nests on surrounding trees and no adults that would guard their fallen fledgling.
We decided to take it home. Otherwise, it would not survive until next morning. There are way too many cats living in the nearby. It was so weak that it wouldn't even try to escape when we caught it.
We managed to feed and hydrate it using syringe. At the beginning, the crow was frightened for sure, but after a couple of trials it understood the idea and even started asking for some more.
In the morning next day little crow was in much better shape, which improved further in the day. It even started to jump a bit, stretch its wings, making noise and seeking for some interaction - meaning need more food. It was not frightened at all and even allowed some gentle touch. It's incredible how intelligent these birds are, they learn so fast!
On Tuesday evening we drove our little crow to the Bird Asylum in Warsaw Zoo, to join other 20 fledglings in the crow kindergarten. It will get well there for sure...
