Father died in 2006, and it was only in the last 5 or 6 years of his life that we had managed to persuade him to wear his medals for the annual Service of Remembrance in church. In fact, he became quite proud of them and had them re-ribboned.
After his death, mother decided she would wear them with pride on this special day.
And of course, mother has now died too.
So today, Simon (our son) wore his grandfather's medals with pride, and a tear in his eye.
