The young Heron was standing on a Gabion basket that has been installed at the point I usually feed her. It was completely fenced off so she flew over the fence and landed close to me. I started feeding her and was about half way through and had just thrown her a bit of fish when one of the contractors started up a digger. I fully expected the young Heron to take off, instead she took a couple of steps closer to me and stood perfectly still. Once she was used to the noise she stepped back and picked up the fish I had just thrown. I finished feeding her then watched her fly back up the loch.
