I woke in the middle of the night, remembering I had not prepared the "Purple Envelopes" for those who give to the church by this method. Husband kindly helped me with this task; much easier than it used to be. Every envelope has a date and a unique personal number on it. We now only have 7 people who give by envelope on a monthly basis, so that is only 7 * 12 = 84 envelopes. When I started as treasurer some 25 years ago, we had something like 12 monthly givers and 10 weekly ones. Can you imagine: 10 * 52 + 12 * 12 = a lot. Covering letters done, then I walked round the village with the local ones and hopped into the car to deliver those in adjoining villages. I processed the image to avoid any breach of confidentiality.
When I say "woke in the middle of the night" that is not quite true. We went to bed just before 11pm, but the fireworks had already started. They were still illuminating the sky at 1am; husband said it reminded him of the Battle of The Somme. (Not that he was there of course!)
This afternoon we tackled clearing out one of those cupboards ... you know the sort I mean. Great job done there.
