The young Heron flew over to the grass today and I was able to give her a fair bit of her whitebait. When a Lab ran towards us she flew over to the edge of the loch for another couple of bits before she flew back to the wooded area. The male was waiting at his usual spot and got some Herring and a sardine. No sign of the other female in the morning though. The crow got several biscuits which I am sure he hides.
In the afternoon the young Heron was nowhere to be seen but the other female was there and chased the male up the loch before returning. I gave her some whitebait then went to look for the young Heron, without success. I found the male and gave him his last Sardine and some Herring. I made my way back to see if the young one was there. The male followed be down flying in circles around me until I crossed what is obviously the "boundary" to his territory. When I got to the bottom of the loch the other female was still there and got some more whitebait before taking off to the wooded area. I was just about to leave when I heard a call, turned round and the young Heron flew down to the edge for the last few bits of whitebait. I am glad I get to feed her in the morning. The crow follows me everywhere picking up biscuits and hiding them.
