We had the honour and pleasure of welcoming two families to our home today; lunch at our kitchen table, precious moments in the garden, and then a trip out to the trains. (Sadly only diesel, too high a fire risk for steam at the moment).
We worked out that we've known Laura and Luke for some 23 years, and attended their respective weddings. Husband had taught Luke and his brother to drive a tractor when they were (sensible) teenagers. Today we reminisced on the special 18th Birthday presents/experiences we had given them and their brother many years ago. They are like family to me; but I did miss their mother, a very special friend of ours, who was unable to join us today.
