There were 5 heron over today. The little female (pictured), the nervous male, the adult male, the middle male and the chick. The little female is quite content if she can stand right in front of me. She lets the others then jostle for positions. the chick is really exerting her authority but not with the little female. She took on the nervous male today and turned round with a beak full of down feathers. This made the nervous male even more nervous and he hung right back. The juvenile gull managed to beat her to a bit of fish. She just reached forward and ripped it from the gulls beak. Then jabbed it the next time it tried it. Lots of crows again and the adult gull with it's juvenile. I then made my way to the clearing where I was joined by the nervous male who got his feed after all.
