There appears to be a custom in the Emmental area on the birth of a child that a tall conifer is cut, most of its branches and bark stripped, then the trunk with the top most branches erected on the property. If any of the Swiss tookapicers have seen this elsewhere or know anything about the custom I would be interested in hearing about it.
