Alicja I like them both :)

Ian Prince Just love the tension between the fast moving train and the man solid as a rock in front of it.

Ian Prince ...and fwiw, I prefer the one posted here over the colour one that doesn't have the same dynamics.

Message to myself: include more people in your photos Ian, lol.

JudithO @Ian: Thanks! Yes, the contrast between the moving train and men standing on the platform is great and was missing from the first picture. Have a hard time (feels weird) just taking pictures with strangers in it, but seems to be worth the effort!

Ian Prince Yeh, me too, I'm uncomfortable taking photos of strangers, especially when publishing them on public websites.

Beyond the personal moral stance of taking photos of strangers (where I tend to lean towards protecting everyone's right to privacy), there are the legal issues.

As far as I understand it actually breaks Swiss law if the person in the published photo can be recognised, unless you get permission. Apparently the laws differ from country to country, but then again I'm not a lawyer... and even for lawyers it's ...err... complicated, as described here: blog.droit-et-photographie.com... (in French)

JudithO Think as long as it is "for non-commercial purposes" its' fine in the US, but actually no idea if that is true ... But I guess lots of people take vacation pictures or similar and have people in the shot that they use for facebook/a blog or something so there must be a legal side that its' ok (or we are all in violation of some law we don't know ;) ). I always think it's a different feeling with a real camera than just your phone: with the phone the "subject" might not be aware that you are taking a picture but with a camera it is obvious that you are! I just started a discussion about it in talks to see what other people think!

Ian Prince @JudithO: I totally here what you say about Facebook etc, but it seems like the legal systems haven't really caught up with the Internet era...

I also here you about moving this conversation to "talks". On the other hand what a boring and dry subject! But that's my fault for bringing it up! I'll let @Paweł decide whether it's a worthy subject for discussion on what should remain a fun and creative activity :)

Oh, yeah, did I say your photo was great? ;)

JudithO Thanks! Yes let's see if we discuss it, also want advice how to improve on doing it /be more "brave" ;)

Ian Prince Looking at the photo again...it's ironic, in view of our discussion, how the man has a "security" camera just above his head!

JudithO He is observed twice ;)!
