Sign beside the East Coast Line

Hubby and I had a lovely time out today and went to find a sign - a very special sign on the East Coast Line that marks the spot where Mallard broke the speed record in July 1938. It took a little detective work; from the descriptions of the event we knew roughly where it was. From travelling on the line, I knew roughly where it was having seen the sign flashing by. From the internet I knew where others had been to photograph it. Mission accomplished, sign found and photographed. We even had a long chat with the farmer who kindly invited us to walk down the edge of the field if we wished - which we didn't do - and suggested that we came back on a frosty day after Christmas when all the leaves would be off the trees.
