Went out to play in a poker game tonight. The first live game I've played in nearly a year. All good fun, and inevitably included lots of chat about the remarkable result of the US elections yesterday.
And despite all the divisiveness that this election has caused, (much like our own Brexit this summer), I think the old poker adage of 'playing the hand that you're dealt' might well be apt right now.
Both things are done. Quite a gamble has been taken, and now we will just have to play the hand we have.
And... as in poker, that doesn't mean sitting back and letting the hand play itself. There's a lot of action between getting your cards and the flop. Even more between the flop and river, and the dealer has literally only just sat down.
Play your hand well kids.... and above all, play nice :)
