Domestic Tuesday

An evening spent pottering about the house. I did the laundry, vacuumed the flat and made a trip to the store. Åsa baked buns with saffron, an old Swedish christmas treat (although this particular version is a bit of an update of the classical recipe). Any bun with saffron in it is like crack-cocaine to me. I simply can't stop eating them, even the lame ones you can get at any 7-eleven will do in a pinch... So I think she better hide these tasty, tasty pretties where I can't find them.

Magda Korzewska So tasty. I thought National buns are with cinnamon. This is what I have learnt from swedish crime books (Camilla Lackberg and Stieg Larson)

Markus Jansson Haha! Well, you're not misinformed! The cinnamon bun is certainly a Swedish classic. It can be enjoyed all year around, both summer and winter. The buns with saffron, however, is something we only eat around Christmas time (and I think they´re from Germany, originally). They are supposed to be served on December 13th, when Swedes for some reason celebrate the Italian Saint Lucia.
