concrete stained with lawn fertilizer

Ten years ago we added hydronic heating to our basement rooms which involved embedding hot water coils in a concrete slab. It's a nice comfortable heat, also appreciated by the cat who likes to sprawl on the warm floor. As a kind of experiment, we stained the concrete with a slurry of iron sulfate purchased from the local garden shop, and I think it's held up nicely over the years. Not a bad use for a chemical that is used to get your lawn nice and green -- not that I would know, since we have no lawn to take care of .
