Margie It wasn't a perfect shot by any means because I pumped up the iSO to have a fast shutter speed and it got grainy but I chose it anyway. Their gathering and nest making process was fascinating.
bvphotosnap I know all about the upping of ISO :D I always switch mine from 100 to auto (100-6400) whenever I'm looking for birds because I want my f stop at 8 and my speed at no less than 1600s. I too find nest making interesting, I've not seen a great blue heron making a nest yet. Maybe someday ☺ I can honestly say that you captured him in a great position, showing all his under parts as well as his outstretched wings and a branch in his mouth! This is in my opinion an awesome capture!
Tomasz Dolata He is such a majestic, beautifully shot !
Margie Thank you, Tomasz. It was a wonderful sight to watch their circling and coming in for the landing, legs stretched out behind them. I enjoyed it.

Margie It was an adventure watching them!
Casey Great shot!
Margie Thank you. A bit grainy due to very high ISO. Yours was nice and clear. Weren't they fascinating??
Casey Yes they sure are. The nest building process is pretty complicated - even saw a heron fight :)
bvphotosnap What an awesome capture of this big bird in flight! Great bits of branches and buds framed in this springtime image!
