Earth Day event at the Elmhurst Branch Library

Lucky me! I was entrusted to pick out the plants for the planting event at the library for Earth Day. There were four planters and the challenge was finding plants that would do well in part shade, be somewhat tough, not be poisonous (especially for kids), and be fun for all, i.e., fun to smell, touch, pick and eat, color (as in dye), and pleasing to look at. Something for everyone. There were more than 20 people who came, a good number of them kids who were more than willing to dig right in! I congratulated myself for a job well done with a couple of margaritas, and conked out for the night (which is why I'm a day late in posting this pic).
