Katrina Yu Thank you Magda! You're absolutely right, our individuality makes us unique. Just like how your images are so distinct!

The most important thing is that you like it ! I love it ! Strange as you say but intriguing !
I just saw that you're getting close to your 365 photo ! I can't wait to see what you'll do for it. I completely missed mine, I got the number all mixed up ! Do hope you continue too because I really am a great fan of yours !!
Take care ! x
Katrina Yu Thank you so much as usual Kateli!!
I know right? A few more days to go now, definitely feeling very surreal. But I haven't had the time to fully feel it because every day is just so full of non-photo related activities (drained 😩). So just taking it a day at a time just like everybody else. :D

I missed this photo somehow. I know what are you talking about. I had really tough year. There was one person who always complained about what I was doing wrong, never said a good word. I felt so down everytime I heard that. I was thinking about giving up taking pictures. But then I found Tookapic. Everyday I see lots of excellent photos, brilliant ideas and it really motivates! It's so refreshing. :)
Your photos have so many different topics but despite this I always know which are yours. I love your style and creativity and I'm so glad I find you here. :)
And you know what? For me: 'this photo is weird' and 'it's creepy' are the best compliments. :D
Besides, we have something that our recipient doesn't. We have memories associated with every particular photo. :) And I'm sure you will remember this jumping every time you'll look at this picture. :D
Katrina Yu I have to really think about what to reply here.
I really understand you. I had it hard too.
When I decided to go home last 2016 (and to be based at home) I have this sense of detachment with my friends - my HS friends who stayed in our country and didn't migrate or work abroad etc2. It's like we grew differently. They don't understand why I am taking pictures or want to create art. Why I don't have a "proper" job (they're mostly nurses, so they're really carving careers for themselves). It was hard to be in a circle where their idea of "success" is different from yours. And they made me feel really insecure.
But I've come to love myself a lot during the last few years that I know when it's time to let go. I'm just not in the right circle.
That's why I made this photo: "298/365 Melancholy of Freedom"
Though I didn't fully write the explanation behind it, the quote was sufficient and I want to share it with you.
“Those who travel with the current will always feel they are good swimmers, [and] those who swim against the current may never realize they are better swimmers than they imagine.” - Shankar Vedantam
To be yourself is really hard when society has certain standards, but it's the most rewarding.
I'm happy that you listened to your self and didn't give up on your photographs, on your art.
We may not be the next Picasso or Annie Leibovitz but we don't have to be. We create to remind ourselves that we're still alive that we're not robots (amidst all the bills and reality haha). Make stuff to inspire others to make something too. And those that like your work will find you eventually, like how I find you.
May you never stop creating!! <3
And thank you for sharing and this lovely comment.
**tight hugs**
jewels Weird is wonderful Katrina! It is not silly, but a symbol of joy and the ability to live every single moment! Love it ! And looking forward to the next 6 days ;-)
