Last night I returned to Malmsbury and the viaduct to have a play with more stars. On the way there, the cloud forecast changed from 20% cloud to 80% cloud.... leaving me terrified I'd be stuck in freezing cold temperatures with nothing to do for 3 hours. As the train made its way closer and closer, I could see a massive cloud building up, blocking all the light in the sky. Resigned to spending 3 hours reading a book, I got off the train to find .... not a cloud in the sky. Not even the original 20%.
So I trudged off through the mud towards the bridge and had a play with my Canon 24mm f1.4.
It's not a great milky way lens, as you can see by the coma in the corners, but the colours it produces!
I deliberately left the foreground dark in this shot, figuring I wanted the attention to be placed more on the stars. In hindsight, maybe I should have pointed the camera up a bit more. :)
The red illumination on the trees is due to the train signals on each side of the bridge, as it is a train bridge.
