At the ready

I still have a lot of money and coins from when I went to Japan last year. I kept everything, because I know I'll be going back at some point. :-) also, does anybody know why some of the Japanese coins have holes in the middle?

Satoshi T To recognize 5 or 50 yen coin by touch, without seeing.
Lightweight with hole: 5 yen, no hole: 10yen. Middleweight with hole: 50 yen, no hole:100 yen. Why our national bank define 500 yen no hole... 🤔
