Paulina M Very nice. Satoshi, can you tell me how is with the Holidays in Japan. Shinto and Buddhism are the most popular systems of beliefs. So why during Catholic Holidays Tokyo is sparkling with lights?

Satoshi T Thank you for interested, @paulina . Sorry a little longer.

It's my opinion, but in Japan, natural environment is not very severe, the entire society was live without follow "only one of the commandments".

It may sound very strange, in the Shinto, "Gods" is dwells Among the various natural objects. Surprisingly, in Japanese Shinto, about 800 kinds God is present.

It may be considered that the remaining the ancient spirit worship.

Original Shinto, because the multi-gods , it was even no resistance to accept the other way of thinking.

We accepted interprets the Buddhism came from India about 1300 years ago.
Similarly, the Catholic from Portugal, was accepted by interpreting the Japanese style about 500 years ago.

This, I myself, quite difficult to explain. When we start the discussion it becomes in social psychology :).

Satoshi T Speaking about the holiday, it basically follows the original Shinto.
New Year 3 days are Nationwide holiday in accordance with Shinto.
Surprisingly might, but Christmas is "Not holidays" in Japan ! Aww.
Light up in Japanese, people do as WORK and other people enjoy them.

Paulina M Thank you Satoshi for your explanation :) So Lighting up Japan is for Japanese people or for tourists? Would you like to celebrate Holidays?

Satoshi T Lighting up Japan is for mainly Japanese people. because of the long night, also in Japan.
About me, at Christmas, we are quietly chatting with family, hearing music , eat cake, and exchange gifts each other.

As our custom, on the new year eve, people go temple( the Buddhism ) and sounding the big bell for "purifying the dirt of past year".
Next mornng, we pray the safety and health of new year to go near the shrine ( the Shinto ).I will take photo and upload them.
And August, we pray to ancestor to go the temple( the Buddhism ) because the temple managed the grave.

Paulina M Thank you for your reply :) Please do those pictures with the big bell and the shrine if you have the chance. That would be nice :)

Satoshi T Yes, I will go same temple tonight. and tomorrow morning, I will go to shrine.
