standing or sitting

My friend played around with words containing sitting and standing, changing the meaning of the words by using the same first syllable before both words. His wordplays are regrettably untranslatable... I took the example of ausstehen (to bear) and aussitzen (to ride out), but in my pic it is not clear who can not bear whom and who is trying to ride out the situation...
