Marthe Gosteli was one of the women who were fighting for the women's rights in Switzerland. Switzerland was one of the last countries in the world to let women participate in politics by giving them the right of voting and electing (and being elected) in 1971!
Also, she thought that it was scandalous that women were not part of Swiss history. There was just no archive that collected documents on the activities of Swiss women's associations, work and so on systematically, and so she decided to do it on her own, at the place where she lived. She would have become 100 years old in these days, but she passed away half a year ago.
It is awesome what she and her fellow campaigners, of which Elisabeth Feller on the photo was one, achieved, but I'm afraid the work they began is not yet finished, men and women have the same rights 'on paper', but in many things women in my country are still underpriviledged, for example when it comes to wages, carreer opportunities, important functions in society...
I admire these ladies and therefor it was clear for me that on the day of 'open doors' I would visit Marthe's place.
