Writing some gibberish

The math behind neural networks isn't as hard to grasp as it may seem, but you can get lost easily in the notation. What's that index? Is that an exponent or superscript? Am I multiplying by a number or a vector here? Row or column vector? Or maybe a matrix? I'm almost done with my machine learning assignment, but it's taking way too much time.
