ponzu Never miss a chance to photograph fog. Recognizing a promising photographic opportunity is always a good start. The streetlamp in the foreground is so bright, it looks like the sun, so we think "early foggy morning". Then we notice the other streetlamps in the distance and guess "a foggy night". The initial and the final impressions of the photo are contradictory. If your goal was to be enigmatic, you achieved it. It is hard to tell a story if the main feature of your photo is confusion. So the confusion becomes the story.
The fact that the streetlamp is not just bright but also overexposed (people might say "blown") aesthetically is not great. I wonder what would have happened if you had tapped the light on the phone to adjust the exposure for it. Perhaps the rays (we think of them as sun rays initially) would not have come out as nice. In a difficult lighting situation, it is always best to take several shots with different exposures to see which looks best. Also, some phones and most cameras will allow you to make an HDR shot by quickly taking 2-3 shots and combining them. Check if your phone has that feature.
The photo is interesting to look at. The rays, the fog and the branches in the middle are great.
I wonder what a less-processed version of the photo would look like.
Marta Thank you very much for your feedback and your time☺ My goal was to expose the rays, I found them fascinating. You're right, I should work more on the light issue. It didn't come to my mind to make an HDR shot which I have in my phone and which I've already used a few times. And, well, maybe it's high time to get to know manual mode settings in my camera better☺
